The apprentice program

School to behind the chair.

Our apprentice program is designed to bridge the gap between what you learn in school and what it actually takes to thrive as a working stylist. Every step is intentional, every skill is practiced, and no one moves forward until they are ready.

What apprentices work on
01

Cuts & technique

Foundational and advanced cutting methods across hair types including clipper cuts and short haircuts to one-length, layered, curly, or graduated cuts. Practiced on models until the execution is precise and consistent.

Color application

Single process, highlights, balayage, toning, and color correction. Apprentices learn to mix, apply, and assess color using our non-toxic O&M and Innersense color lines.

Styling & finishing

Blowouts, silk press, curl definition, waves, and updos. Apprentices build speed and precision so every finish looks polished and intentional.

The class chooses the service

Each education class focuses on a specific technique. You will know the general category in advance (cut, color, or styling), but the specific service is determined by the curriculum.

Not for current clients

Our model program is specifically for people who are not already part of our regular client base. If you currently book services at Colmado, this program is not the right fit, but we appreciate you more than you know.

Supervised by a senior stylist

Every model appointment is supervised by a licensed, experienced member of the Colmado team. The apprentice does the work with expert eyes on every step.

We reach out

Submitting your info adds you to our model list. We will reach out when a class is coming up that matches your hair type, length, and the service category you are open to. You are never obligated to say yes.

Available for haircuts of all kinds including blunt cuts, layers, trims, curly cuts, and tapers. The specific service depends on the class focus.

Available for blowouts, silk press, curl styling, waves, or updos. Great if you want to leave with a finished look and no permanent change.
